Chicago has a new area code of 872 and anyone that is getting a new phone number will get that as their area code. Since that person could be living among those that have 773 or 312 now everyone in the city of Chicago no matter what area code you have will have to dail 1 and then the 10 digit number. This starts as of today, Saturday, November 7th.
